Some time back I received a message whilst logging into my Hotmail account informing me of a security change request. I had tried to update my phone number details shortly before this but the message said that someone may be trying to use my account, so I went along with the process and selected yes it was me that tried to do this etc. Then a window asking for a security code that would be sent to the an old phone number that I no longer use was required, well this is where I got stuck. I no longer know the phone number so I basically hit a wall. I clicked a few buttons to try to get around this and was finally told that it would require a wait of 30 days to make the changes, no problem as it still gave me access to my account.
It's just a matter of time until you get in front of your PC, try to sign in but, after several attempts, realize you forgot your password, and are now locked out of the system. Changing hotmail to id is their working and surely not to siphon off details of hotmail ids.Is it for security that ids are being blocked, locked. If yes, then law ought to penalise microsoft, hotmail, outlook. If not then too as Microsoft is responsible for not restoring accounts which are hacked, plagiarised nor taken any legal action. The Customer support.
Today when I tried to log on, it said that someone is using my account, I presume my estranged wife is snooping as I used her laptop a few times to access my Hotmail account. So I went through a process of changing the password, which I managed to do and stupidly clicked the two step verification option, again it required a code from my old phone number which I have stated I no longer know, it was a phone number from a few years ago. So, I am locked out of my Hotmail account and for some reason, the 30 day wait expires on the 29th of this month which means that someone has reset it and it wasn't me.
What can I do to change my phone number to my current one? Is the a phone support team that I can ring and sort all of this out as I am well and truly stuck here.
